    • Waukee juniors and seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
    • Students who meet the above criteria and demonstrate NHS’s pillars of scholarship, service, leadership, and character
    • Students who meet membership criteria will receive application information in late January 
    • Qualified students will need a resume, letters of recommendation, and an essay that responds to NHS’s prompt to apply
Rahul Rahul Bhat, President

I’m Rahul Bhat, the elected NHS President for this year. I’m also on the Waukee Soccer team. I look forward to a great year with a great group!

Jonathan Jonathan Nevenhoven, Vice President

“I’m Jonathan Nevenhoven, Waukee High School’s NHS Vice President. Within WHS, I’m involved in FBLA, Jazz Band, Show Choir Band, and NCYL. I’m also a Drum Major for the Waukee Warrior Regiment Marching Band and the Senior Class President. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, while also traveling to our cabin in South Dakota. I’m so excited for what’s to come this year!

Lucas Lucas Haviland, Volunteer Coordinator

I’m Lucas Haviland, and I will be our Volunteer Coordinator for Waukee NHS this year. On top of NHS, I’m a Drum Major for the Waukee Warrior Regiment, a member of Waukee Jazz One, and a member of the WHS Student Council. I also participate in activities like Best Buddies, Speech Team, Show Choir Band, and Future Business Leaders of America. I am so excited to help find and participate in volunteer opportunities this year!

Vanessa Vanessa DeMarco, Public Relations & Website Officer

My name is Vanessa DeMarco, and I am the PR/Website Officer this year. I am involved in Waukee Track, Cross Country, and Varsity Mock Trial. I am a member of the International Club and also an elected Student Council Representative. I work as the head synchronized swimming coach at Wakonda Country Club, and I am a 2nd dan Blackbelt in Taekwondo. I look forward to using social media and our website to showcase our amazing NHS chapter!

Maggie Maggie Patten, Teacher Appreciation Co-Chair

My name is Maggie Patten, and I am one of the Teacher Appreciation Co-Chairs for the NHS chapter at WHS. I’m also the president of Kee 2 Change, a Silver Cord recipient, and heavily involved in our vocal music program. I sing in Cantate, A Cappella, and Millennium. I’m so excited to show our wonderful teachers and staff how much we love them this year!!

Ivy Ivy Hemesath, Winter Formal Co-Chair

I’m Ivy Hemesath, and I will be working to plan Waukee’s Winter Formal for 2022. I am involved in Waukee Girls Soccer, Silver Cord, Student Council, RAK, Kee 2 Change, and Ignition. I have been having a lot of fun planning the dance so far, and I am looking forward to what’s to come!

Anna Anna Twedt, Winter Dance Co-Chair

I’m Anna Twedt, and I am one of your Winter Formal Co-Chairs. Along with NHS, I am involved in girls soccer, RAK, and Silver Cord. I cannot wait to make this year’s Winter Formal a lot of fun for everyone!

    • Current NHS members can complete and submit 10 hours of NHS-sponsored service in order to receive their gold cord at graduation.
    • To earn NHS service hours, members must fill out the Service Hours Form, which must be signed by their service supervisor.
    • Service hour forms must be submitted online via the Service Hours Submission Form to be counted.
